The radiosurgery center at our partner hospital is the first clinical reference site in Asia for BrainLAB of Germany, for superior treatment modalities such as stereotactic radiotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRT & SRS). Surgeons use the powerful BrainSCAN computer planning software and BrainLAB's micro-Multileaf Collimator fully integrated with the varian linear accelerator for precise dynamic conformal arc stereotactic radiotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery.

In addition, with Varian's 120-Multileaf Collimator, 3-D Conformal Radiation Therapy is routinely performed. This means that highly conformal and precise radiotherapy dosage can be delivered to the lesion according to shape and size, while sparing normal surrounding tissues or critical organs.
Superior technologies like Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) allows more sophisticated shaping of the dose distribution while Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) enables 3-dimensional detection of tumor motion for precise dose delivery to moving targets.

Radiosurgery is a non-invasive way of treating brain tumors where high focus radiation is used to burn the tumors.

Typical Side Effects:

• Only minimal side effects have been observed when this procedure was used to treat bleeding of the brain.
• Pain, fever and vomiting were observed when treating cancerous regions for a few days after treatment.

Recuperation: 5 - 7 days

Risks: Occasionally neurological problem like weakness in the arms or legs or numbness may occur.

Complications: Less than 5%
